    "Checking battery state..." in Lucid Lynx

    So much for an LTS release being stable. I try to boot from a LiveCD and it hangs on "Checking battery state..."

    I searched the forum for a solution but didn't really find anything. This is an old desktop machine with Intel onboard graphics -- nothing too fancy and nothing it should have a problem with. Yet it's not working.
