10.04 borks Sys76 Driver on Starling and overheats hardware

I performed a fresh install of 10.04 yesterday. Overall, I'm very pleased - everything appears to be working out of the box.

However, installing the System76 driver causes GDM to hang up during desktop initialization, with a repeating sound, and if I run for more than a few hours, the hardware gets hotter than hell, and I can smell something burning.

I can live without the sys76 driver, but this overheating issue is going to kill my hardware. Anybody have an idea how I can stop it?

Sounds like a problem with your fan.

I upgraded with no trouble. Well, wireless trouble, but I fixed that with installing GCC.

I'd contact Tom and have him see what he can do.

Update: Looks like the heating problem only happens while I'm running plugged in. If I run off of battery, no heating issue.

    Fun and excitement.
