I updated to 10.04 a couple of days ago, I only started getting this problem today.
After a very short amount of time being logged in, 2 of my hard drives stop working. I have 5 750GB hard drives, 1 has / and swap on it, the others are for data, but I am only using the first to at the moment. Nautilus shows no files in these 2 hard drives, but the other 2 are fine, as is the system disk. Here's what I'm getting in dmesg over and over again...
Code:
[ 2377.833672] end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 4007
[ 2377.833689] sd 9:0:0:0: [sdb] Unhandled error code

I have tried unmounting and remounting the drives, but I cannot remount:
Code:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
and in dmesg:
Code:
[ 2840.396365] sd 10:0:0:0: [sdc] Unhandled error code
[ 2840.396367] sd 10:0:0:0: [sdc] Result: hostbyte=DID_BAD_TARGET driverbyte=DRIVER_OK

[ 2840.396375] end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 65
[ 2840.396381] EXT3-fs: unable to read superblock
I'm running 64-bit 10.04 with Core 2 Quad @ 2.66GHz, 4GB memeory, nVidia (yes, I know) motherboard.
These drives have a lot of data on them, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
EDIT: Kernel is 2.6.32-21-generic. Will try with an earlier version and report back.
EDIT 2: Tried mounting with 'sync' option, appears to have fixed it. I think there maky have been a conflict between the OS and disk buffering or something, but sync mode is working, just as fast as before at the cost of a little CPU. Can we keep the thread open, just in case something happens? Thanks.
EDIT 3: Nope, It's just broken again. slightly different dmesg. Any help?
