Thanks for the replies, I was thinking more on the lines of Aperture.
GIMP doesn't do RAW. And, F-Spot lacks quite some features.

GIMP does do RAW images... you have to only add needed libraries...
I found a better and more ubuntu way to get Rawtherapee
oen a terminal type these commands
Note this might take a few minutes, dont worry if it hangs for a few its ok, if it hangs for over 10 minutes try again.Code:sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rawtherapee/ppa
then update the system
then install rawtherapeeCode:sudo apt-get update

GIMP with ufraw (free), Bibble5, Lightzone 3.9 (nonfree). Picasa 3, still in beta mode but free for linux. Raw Studio, Raw Therapee (Free). I use GIMP, ufraw, bibble5, Lightzone and Picasa 3. As my main editors with linux.
