The Bluetooth USB Adapter pairs with my Bluetooth Headset, but only registers and works as a Mono device. Hardware-wise both the headset and adapter are a2dp capable. I have been succeessfully using the bluetooth adapter for other purposes in Ubuntu (to pair with my nokia, etc).
With the help of some nightmarish proprietary driver/software, bundled with the adapter, I did get the same set of hardware to work in stereo in Windows XP.
I might be wrong on this but i'll try to help. Ubuntu Lucid seems to have a far greater mono framework and I believe a stronger bluetooth support if you choose to upgrade I think you'll have better luck with your devices sorry I cant be more helpful as I don't use mono or bluetooth much but, since theres been zero replys I thought I'd tell you about the framework in lucid seems much more able for mono.
If your headset supports STEREO, you can change the settings at SOUND PREFERENCES.
For Karmic, (Assuming you successfully connected your BT headset)
1. Go to System-Preferences-Sound
2. Click HARDWARE Tab. You should see your Bluetooth headset here.
3. Select Your Bluetooth headset
4. At the lower part of the Hardware tab, Select "High Fidelity Playback (A2DP)
You should have STEREO sound now.
Good luck.
