OK, we'll keep working on it. Not sure why we can't reproduce it, but BT works like a charm on our PanP4n.

Thomas, when you code lspci, what does the bluetooth output look like? When I key LSPCI after toggling FN-F12, I don't see anything that is obviously bluetooth related. When I go to System>Preferences>Bluetooth, the daemon says, "Your computer does not have any bluetooth adapters plugged in."
I have a separate dongle (okay, that sounds strange). When I plug it in, Bluetooth works fine through the USB adapter.
It seems like the hotkey sequence just isn't mapping to turning on the internal adapter.
vgrisham, are you sure your machine has a BT adapter installed? (Sorry, I've gotta ask.)
Try running...
lsusb
...before and after Fn-F12.
Yes, I'm sure it has one and I know that it is functional (I'm dual boot with Windows 7 and it works just fine; it also worked fine in Karmic).
Here's my lsusb output before toggling on:
vaughn@ubuntu:~$ lsusb

Here's my lsusb output after toggling on (no difference):

I also tried sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth restart, but that didn't have any effect either.
OK, that is somewhat helpful.
Please go into W7 and turn it on. Then turn off the machine and boot into Lucid.
Then do the Fn-F12 before/after test again.
Also try turning it *off* in W7, etc...
Other PanP4/5 users with bluetooth, do you have Windows dual-booted? And can you confirm the above results?
If the above doesn't work, please go to System > Admin > Software Sources. Under the Updates tab, make sure "Pre-released updates (lucid-proposed)" is selected. Then check for / run updates and reboot.
Did that fix it?
I've received confirmation from another customer that enabling the proposed and backports repos and runnin gupdates fixes the bluetooth problem.
