Did you install adobe-flash-properties-gtk? Maybe you need it to configure something... You could try this on the terminal:

    sudo apt-get install adobe-flash-properties-gtk

No, but I saw those settings are the same of the online configuration tool, so I don't need it.

    Btw, did anyone try this?
If it works properly on our Asus, it solves the kernel 3.0 battery consumption .

I read about new kernels having an issue with battery consumption, but I didn't experience it with Ubuntu 11.04 or 11.10.

Update: after reading the link, it looks like adding i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 to the grub options reduces battery usage when using Unity and video playback. For games it increases the battery usage, but also increases the frames per second. I will test it when I have some time. (Just in case, this is only for Intel GPU).

For now we can solve the three finger tap issue with the instructions here:

    Thanks for this thread guys!

I have a K52Jc with 4GB of RAM but the system monitor only shows 3.7GB of RAM. free -m also only shows that amount.

I'm using the 64bit version of Oneiric. In the 32bit PAE version it also showed 3.7GB.

    Any ideas?

I believe you need to use the 64bit version so that all 4GB would be recognised.

After testing the 11.10 LiveCD I confirm that most of the problems are gone. The webcam which was the most annoying is gone from all applications except Skype.
I don't have the courage to do an update, but I will probably do a fresh install... I have no faith in what I, as a noob, have done to my existing install

(K52F with Intel graphics board and 3GB of RAM)

If your video card has 256mb of shared memory, it means it takes it from the 4gb of ram. So you have 3.7gb of ram left.

I'm already using the 64bit version.

    Hi, anyone install gnome-shell?

When I try gnome-shell --replace I get the following error
    Code:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".

(gnome-shell:6708): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to initialize Clutter: The OpenGL version could not be determined
Window manager error: Unable to initialize Clutter.
    It did work with LiveCD.
Asus K52JC fresh Ubuntu 11.10 install.
