Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie to Ubuntu. I have an old laptop that I'm trying to convert into a simple home server with Ubuntu 12.04. I run Windows 7 Pro on my desktop and Windows 8 on my new laptop. Hope I can figure this out soon as I'm trying to get a business started out of my home.

Hello everyone! Just joined up, and look forward to getting to know everyone. I've been a very active member on Overclock.net for 4 yrs, and love it. Hopefully the same carries over here.

I started using Linux in a vm for extra folding performance, and fell in love after tooling around. Now I dual boot between windows and Ubuntu with KDE on my main rig. Plus I only use Kubuntu on my laptop.

    Kind of a long hello

    Hi gizmoid,

A big welcome to you on behalf of all in the forums - you will find us to be a very friendly group here!

The cafe is a good place to get to know all about our members - interesting topics are discussed there.

Your hello isn't really all that long - (you should see some of them lol)

Have a good look around and jump in whenever you wish to ask a question.

I trust your time with us is long and fruitful!

    Cheers -

Hi stuman. I suggest you post a thread (or threads, not duplicates but about different issues) with a descriptive title in the appropriate sub-forum regarding your issues. No better time to start than the present! As you are no doubt aware the Cafe is for non-technical stuff and general chit chat so you won't get any help here. I suggest you post the quote above (or something similar) in 'Server Platforms' and add the specs of the 'old computer' and any other details you can think of that might be relevant. Good luck.

And hi to all other newcomers and others.
