Hi all!

I'm back to stay on linux if I can ever settle down on a single distro haha. I've been a mac user for years and have only dabbled in linux. I've now gotten to the point where I want to commit.

I spent the day tinkering with my early 2011 MBP to get Ringtail on it but now I think I'm going to put Fuduntu or Mint Cinnamon back on it. We shall see.

Anyway, I'm happy to be here and look forward to time in the linux forums!

No reason that you have to settle down just yet. (unless you want to that is.)

Anyway there are many friendly people in the forums willing to share their experiences with you.

Hello all. Am very new to the world of Linux - been having fun the last few hours installing Lubuntu 13.04 onto a c. 2003 Fujitsu Siemens Amilo P4 Laptop.

Firstly around construction of boot USB now with actual install.

Googling error messages has led me here but nothing conclusive so far...

Welcome. Why not have 'em all on separate partitions? Just install grub to the partition you're installing the new OS to and leave the existing grub there to run the show. Boot into the original install and run: sudo update-grub. Reboot and the new install should be there.

Welcome. Try posting new threads with descriptive titles and outline your issue in the appropriate sub-forum. Good luck. (13.04 has just been released; have you tried something well tested on lots of hardware like 12.04 LTS to see if you get the same issues? Then you will know whether it is specific to 13.04)

Now I'm back running Ubuntu on one of my machines, so I figured I'd get back on the forum too. Unfortunately since I didn't post a lot back then, I can't change my profile info until I get to 25 posts (shouldn't take long), so, I guess I'll go ahead and say that I'm running 13.04.;

Hi Cody - It is great to welcome you back to the forums - I notice you have already started posting.

Most don't really notice the details of your Distro profile, but if you really wanted it updated you could continue to post in the support forums or try asking a moderator in Feedback and Help to update it for you.

I trust 13.04 is working out well for you!

Now that you're back, hopefully you will stay longer with us this time.
