Hey there,
I'm Mark. I was a regular around these parts a few years ago (started with Ubuntu 4.10, then switched to Kubuntu from 5.04 onwards).
Left the UK in January 2009 backpacking through Asia then onto NZ and now Australia. Bought a lil netbook in November 2010, but back then Ubuntu was not supposed to work well on it... but finally got sick of Windows (it got so friggin slow) so have just installed Lubuntu and am loving it!
I think I forgot some Linux stuff in the last 3 and a half years, but hopefully it'll all come back!
Cheers
Welcome gingermark! Your pretty lucky to get to travel a lot!
Hi,
Although my name is TheKingOfComputer, I am not the King (Just couldn't come up with a better name ) but I'm no dummy either. Anyways, I started using Ubuntu in the beginning of May this year (got sick of Windows, far too slow) using Wubi. After it still proved no performance difference but I did like the interface, deleted Windows completely and now it is much better ...
Hope I can learn a lot here
~TheKing~
It's nice to meet you other 1406 or so people!
My name is TheGuy, and I used to be a hardcore windows fan. Really. Very recently I went to a open-source conference, and at one point I asked some programmers about their choice of IDE, since at that point I was still looking for a good one for python. They asked what "distro" I was using, and I made the mistake of saying I used windows 7. Suddenly I found myself surrounded by a bunch of programmers each giving me an earful of reasons I should switch to Linux. Let me tell you, I'm glad I tried it! Any respect I had for windows, well... It's gone now.
Anyways, nice to meet y'all, and here's to Ubuntu!!!
Hi,
I'm not very new to ubuntu, i've been using it for quite a while now, a year or so, but haven't done much learning or experimenting.
Would love to start!
I also wanted to know... what do your number of beans indicate?
Ah I see... Thanks!
