Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here

I've been a Ubuntu user since 10.04 (I think -- maybe earlier). I'm currently using Xubuntu 18.04. I'm interested in exploring Ubuntu Studio. How do I post a question in Ubuntu Forums?

    Thanks
    Regards,

Never mind. I finally found it.

Go to the sub forum, in my case I'm looking for help with Installations and Upgrades. In the upper left corner of that page is a button to "Post New Thread".

    Cool Been a long time

It has been a very long time since I last used Linux. I started using it when having a 2x CD (not DVD) was already great. My first distro was Yggdrassil 1997 I think, I stuck to it for a few years until I switched to Red Had having tried Slackware and Ubuntu once. Basically I loved the original Linux distros that had Gnome and did no effort in emulating Microsoft Windows stupidity.

Back then I enjoyed developing open software for Linux having several packages (many of which I no longer remember) to my name like ChkLogs, SmartInst (that RedHat copied the concept and then the others) and even co-developed one of the most successful Microsoft Messenger ports for Linux that was wrongly named aMSN by my co-developer.

And then out of work I was seduced by the dark forces and joined Microsoft because of its promising .NET platform. But here I am willing to try Linux again for other stuff.

Cool Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here

    Hi there!

I've been an Ubuntu user and forum lurker since about 2005 - much longer than this account indicates! I started using Ubuntu in college as I explored the world of open source software and looked for ways to save money.

Since then I've become a full-time software engineer, as well as a side-project tinkerer. I love using Ubuntu whenever I get the chance, which is much more frequently on my side-projects than professional life.

    I'm interested in:
    • FOSS contributions
    • Multimedia experimentation
    • Solving problems
    • Getting sh*t done

I hope I can help contribute back to this wonderful community that has helped me so frequently over the years. Thanks!

Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here

Hello everyone, my last Ubuntu was 14.04 and for a while it did a lot for me, eventually getting new notebook 'Lenovo' some student level entry and finding out that it can only have Microsoft, can't reformat. Then a big pause till 19.10 that works just fine along Windows 10.

Now, I used to use Wine to have few programs working but now there is this <snap install> and I'm confused
Always look @ the bright side of life
