Welcome liang3 and all the others I have missed well I was on Vac.
I'm ruzekle. I mostly use Debian, but I'm thinking about converting to Ubuntu MATE. Any thoughts?
Welcome. As this is the intro thread, my thoughts are that you won't get a lot of response to the Mate query here, but you will get LOTS of thoughts regarding Mate if you post a thread in the Ubuntu, Linux and OS Chat section of the forums asking the same question (try and be more specific about what it is you want to know about Mate as what you have is very broad and the responses will be the same as a consequence). Good luck.
And welcome all other newcomers!

Welcome Edgardo.
Hedgehog is way before my time (Lucid lynx was my first). Better late than never.
Welcome EDGARDO_GUTIERREZ and wowser! Hedgehog was 5.04!
I thought you meant Hardy Heron, 8.**, so had a look at the releases, past and present, and horray for 5.04 Hoary Hedgehog.
I plopped in about 7.04 so was unaware of it.
Welcome everyone
Bump for I feel old. Hoary is my all time favorite, the first one that did give me a graphical user interface. Warty or No-name-yet did not, but I stuck with them nonetheless.

Hello all,
I just joined the forum and would like to introduce myself. I currently own and operate a number of PCs, Laptops and Macs running Windows XP Pro, Vista Business, Win 7 Pro & Ultimate, Windows 10 Enterprise (on test) and OSX Yosemite 10.10 on a Mac Pro 5,1. I have decided NOT to migrate any of my Windows based gear to Windows 10. hence my interest in an alternative and better OS.
Yesterday I downloaded Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and created an install disc from the ISO. I allowed the E6400 to boot to the install disc, so far so good. My next step will be to do an install on one of my redundant “boxes”, then explore further.
I will be browsing through the forum posts for hints, tips and answeres, but I am sure I will have many questions as I get further into this adventure.
Peter B.
