Ctrl+Ctrl does not trigger Google Desktop's Quick Search Box

    Hi

I've installed Google Desktop on ubuntu netbook edition 10.04 to realize the Ctrl+Ctrl combination does not trigger the Quick Search Box. I had exactly the same problem running Kubuntu 10.04.

GD's Keyboard Hotkey settings shows that my left control is received as Ctrl-Control_L. I'm able to set QSB with other combination (e.g. Ctrl-Control_L+Space), however I'm really used to Ctrl+Ctrl and thus was hoping for some help from you guys.

    I would appreciate any suggestions.

I must agree that is frustrating... I didn't manage to make it work yet.

I was thinking about using xmodmap - an utility to manage keymaps, but don't really know how to use it. Any hints, anyone?

I have mapped <super>-f to quick search box.
It inserts an "f" in the current text editor when pressed, but opens the quick search box.

I found out that it actually worked with Ctrl_L then press Ctrl_R together ?!!

    great... it does work somehow...
Now... how can we make the quick search window stay? Because for me it appears when I press both ctrl keys, but also dissapears when I release the keys.

Same way, keep the Ctrl_L pressed for one second, in other words, here is the sequence I found:
    1- Press and hold Ctrl_L
    2- Press and release Ctrl_R
3- hold Ctrl_L for one second.

to make it disappear do the same thing... Also you can get the same results if you apply the same pattern while replacing _L with _R.

Also I found another way that might be simpler:
    1- Press and hold Ctrl_L
2- DOUBLE Press and release Ctrl_R

to make it disappear do the same thing... Also you can get the same results if you apply the same pattern while replacing _L with _R.
