unable to install a dualboot win7/ubuntu

    Hi everyone,

I'm very sorry, but I regret telling you that I am forced to switch to windows again

Any tool provided to install a ubuntu (full install, no wubi) has failed so far.

    • My live cd -- ACPI: EC: Input buffer not empty, aborting transaction live cd
    • Startup usb: loads ubuntu logo, but then says unable to load package linuz/..../etc.
    • Downloaded iso: same problem as live cd...

    • wubi install: unable to resize virtual disk (in fact I was able to, but it won't boot again, giving a minimal bashline only) -- grub gnu beta minimal bashline provided
    • migrate the wubi install to a full install (using lvpm) gives an unknown os in the list, and recognizes the newly installed ubuntu on dev/sda, but gives file not found error

    I'm stuck now, I guess
Sorry guys, but I have no choice this way
Unless someone knows another method to save me from windows?

    Greetz

Well the usb seems the easyest to fix for me... i dont even know the other errors are, but this seems like it does not find something...

Try http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ this. It worked fined for me.

OK, I succeeded in recovering my ubuntu installation, but I still have the same problem: about 200 mb of free space...

Is there a way of doing a full install on another partition from within my ubuntu installation? How should I format that partition?

Or is there another tool but lvpm

... because it made my system crash twice!

    Thanks again!

    +1

Don't try... I just purchased win7 just to try it and ubuntu is the only os for me.
If Ubuntu had 31 flavors then we could call it Baskin' Ubuntu.
