Need a list of Ubuntu security exploits for educational lab work ..

Hey all ... Well I have a really strange questions to ask all the Ubuntu gurus here ... I'm a university student taking a Network Security course, and I have an upcoming lab in which our class would be split up into groups and would be issued ubuntu computers, and our task would be exploit vulnerabilities in each others systems .. I know that the systems that would be given to us would have Ubuntu installed on them .. which version it would be is still not mentioned .. although it would be a bare ubuntu install (i.e. no security patches applied)

So basically what I'm asking is for a list of ubuntu exploits which I can practice before the lab ... so if anyone can guide me in the right direction, I would be very grateful ..

    Thanks in advance ...

(here's to hoping that none of my class mates are reading this ) ..

http://www.securityfocus.com/ should be a starting point
ClassicMenu Indicator - classic GNOME menu for Unity
Unsettings - configuration program for the Unity
Privacy Indicator - easily switch privacy settings in Unity
Arronax - create and modify app starters

Hmm, well, VNC is one enormous exploit and is the favourite way to get your Ubuntu machine hacked...

Are you allowed some tools? Like nmap?
