Win TV-HVR-1600

I'm a beginner at all this, so please give detailed instructions in answers, Thanks!

Here's the problem:
We built a computer in order to use myth tv as a media center for various movies and tv shows within the house. We also purchased and installed a Win TV-HVR-1600 (the one with the tv, fm and atsc connectors). Everything was working great, until I tried to get the stupid card working. I've tried several install guides (see: http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums....d.php?t=850841 & http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge...#Backend_Setup) as I lack the programming knowledge to get this to work. I know the problem isn't the vmalloc problem with NVIDIA (see: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1004660) because the graphics are fine. I can't seem to get anything to work and I'm about to rip Mythbuntu out and install Win 7 because I know what I'm doing in Win 7 but wanted to avoid paying!
