This has worked for me to far on Karmic. I think it would be the same if any other versions use the indicator applet. If you would also like to have notification from libnotify, follow this <a href="http://www.theopensourcerer.com/2010/02/09/indicator-applet-libnotify-support-for-thunderbird/"]http://www.theopensourcerer.com/2010/02/09/indicator-applet-libnotify-support-for-thunderbird/">post</a>
1. Add a Desktop file for Indicator Applet
2. Add new text to this file.Code:sudo touch /usr/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop
Code:sudo nano /usr/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop3. Add another new file for indicator Applet.Code:[Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=Mozilla Thunderbird Mail/News Comment=Read/Write Mail/News with Mozilla Thunderbird GenericName=Mail Client Exec=thunderbird-3.0 %u #Change according to your Thunderbird command Terminal=false X-MultipleArgs=false Type=Application Icon=thunderbird Categories=Application;Network;Email; MimeType=text/html;text/xml;application/xhtml+xml;application/xml;application/vnd.mozilla.xul+xml;application/rss+xml;application/rdf+xml; StartupWMClass=Thunderbird-bin StartupNotify=true
