Roland DXY 1200 pen plotter

I'm trying to get an old Roland pen plotter to work on Ubuntu. So far I can't even see it. I'm using a Parallel to usb cable, which from other post may be a problem. I think the plotter works, it turns on and things move about as if getting ready to do a job.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcomed.

I have all the books for the dxy1200 plus the win98me driver. Not sure how close their 'dxy-gl' language is to hpgl. You might have better luck with an older machine that has a real serial port. I can never get the usb adapters to talk to anything (gps, calculator) dip switch 1 #5 puts it in parallel mode, this should be indicated on the back of the unit.

hi gary ken here - yes that should work for your plotter

that decal on my image was cut from a vinyl cutter using hpgl code and the software was garys it works great
