    easy question on cpu temperature

So I resolved the fan not running issue. Now fan will kick on at 54 Deg C, and shut off at 47 Deg C.

My question, is that a good temperature range to keep the processor at?

    Any help/comments greatly appreciated

Sounds fine to me. I have a T7700 and it idles at 46C after thermal paste upgrade. Gets 51C average use.

My dual core cpu's idle at 37C or there about (they're both at 36C right now). I don't think I've seen either one above 50C and if I did it was momentarily.

AMD Turion X2 just for reference.

Ok, thanks. I feel a little better knowing a fellow pentium user hovers around the same temps. Maybe AMD just runs cooler?

My friend found and emailed me a version of core temp this morning that was compatable with windows 7, and it shows that windows kicks the fan on around 50, and off at around 43. So I guess the extra 4 Deg C won't make a huge difference.

The max operation temp is 105C, thermal shutdown at 125C. But at 70C+, lifespan may well be shortened, lot. 54C is fine. Better to keep it under 60-65C IMO.

You cant really say that, its way to generalised..some AMDs will run cooler, some run hotter.
