Just because they are abandoning it, doesn't mean the users have to. Look at 98, it is still kicking pretty well considering its age. In fact I'm installing 2K on a new to me laptop while I'm typing this.

With Microsoft soon closing down security updates, I don't really think it's a good idea to use it in a live environment anymore. I switched to Ubuntu because of this.

I still use it in a VM, until my game servers can run through WINE.
