Harddrive light always on for my other harddrive

I have this laptop harddrive (SATA) Sitting around, so I got myself a 2.5" enclosure for it to hook up to my laptop. However, the green light on the enclosure stays solid, and never flickers.

Could it be possible that when I dropped my laptop accidentally, the harddrive got busted? If so, how do I recover the data from it?

Its more than possible that dropping your laptop will kill the hdd.

If it is dead, how to get the data back? You will either have to pay somebody to recover the data, or do it yourself. That will involve finding the exactly same HDD, pulling both the new and the old HDDs apart, then swapping the platters from the old HDD to the new HDD.

Not fun unless you have a good idea what you are doing, have the right tools and have good fine motor skills.

Yeah, I don't have that kind of skill. Almost lost the little screws for the enclosure when I tried putting it together because of my tremors.
