Icons are not getting changed from Gnome

I just tried to change a new theme in my desktop and to wonder the icons got changed to Default Gnome Icons.

And now whatsoever I try the icons are not getting changed to any other icon set. I tried to install any new Icon set and change it, but in vain.

In the Menus the Icons for the Folders are displaying properly and resteverywhere the default icons of gnome is showing.

Can anyone throw some light on this.

after a gnome desktop update the icons are back.
