Yes, you can make calls. What kind of calls do you want to make?

Does that mean you want to use your computer headset to talk on the phone? I don't think that will work. It is possible to place a call and monitor the progress, then pick up the telephone handset when the call is answered.
You can also make phone calls using Skype, but those calls go through the Internet, not through your dial-up modem. And there is a charge. (My wife uses Skype to call from Canada to China.)
I think I have a similar issue. I would like to use my netbook as a mobile phone. [Acer Aspire One 532]
The modem is supported out-of-the-box, and I have inserted a SIM card able to make standard voice calls (not internet-only). Is there a way?
