Siemens Lifebook AH530 webcam won't work in Ubuntu 12.04.1

    Hello,

I recently updated Ubuntu to 12.04 and ever since then the webcam of my Siemens AH530 laptop is simply not being detected. Before, when using an earlier version of Ubuntu, the webcam would at least work by using Cheese software, even though I couldn't get it to respond without using the software. Now it is detected by neither Cheese or VLC.

Please can anyone give me any tips for making it work again? I am a novice user so could do with some help.

    Thank you.

How does it work in a live boot of, say Xubuntu 12.10 and 13.04 (development version)?
