Windows XP painfully slow on shut down saving settings

I've got OpenLDAP and Samba set up so I can share files between PC's. The Windows XP box checks against the OpenLDAP server which is running Ubuntu 8.04.

I've got two PC's running Ubuntu and one running Windows XP. I have no problems except when I power down the XP box. It will say "Saving settings" for about 10 minutes and then finally shut down.

Any ideas about where I should be looking?

There are registry modifications you can do to make it shut down faster. If you ask a windows forum they should know what I'm talking about.
