Question should Ubuntu look more like a Mac?

Monochromatic icons in the top panel, the new notifications, karmic usplash... Ubuntu is getting more and more similar to OSX by default...
Is it what users want or what usability experts and designers at Canonical are used to?

I'm trying PHP, so my code can probably be labelled "bad and insecure"

    Hello,

I think that Ubuntu is heading towards the Mac look too. It has nice aspects but I personally feel Ubuntu should retain some individuality.

I wonder what people consider worth copying, that is not yet been copied.

I think it should stay the way it is now. I mean,it's unique...come on who needs a Mac-looking ubuntu anyway?

I agree, right now is similar enough.

Or maybe a little too much: the notifications are way too similar, why they can't pick a color from the gtk theme? Why they are exactly like those in macos?

Windows 7 has monochromic icons for its taskbar.

How is the boot usplash/xsplash/plymouth like OS X, though?

I think Ubunut should be the testing ground for a higher and more superior computer, this cannot be accomplished if it became a follower rather than a trend-setter.
