    Help - WUSB600N and 9.10 32-bit - resolved

    Hola everyone,

    I have just installed a fresh copy of 9.10 on an older Compaq nc6000 laptop. I need some help getting my Linksys WUSB600N wireless adapter to function properly.

    I have "half-way" connectivity, meaning that I can see (and connect to) my home wireless network but I can't connect to the internet (unless I use the wired connection). I have installed NDIS wrapper - no change

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    With the device inserted, please run, in a terminal:
    Code:
    lsusb
    dmesg | grep rt2
    Thanks.

    Re: Help - WUSB600N and 9.10 32-bit

    I am guessing there is a driver issue...
    Oh, my oh my, yes! Here is your device:
    1737:0071 Linksys
    Both rt2800usb and rt2870sta claim this device:
    $ modinfo rt2800usb | grep 0071
    alias: usb:v1737p0071d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip*
    $ modinfo rt2870sta | grep 0071
    alias: usb:v1737p0071d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip*
    alias: usb:v1737p0071d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip*
    As you can see from your dmesg, the only thing worse than having no driver is having two conflicting drivers fighting. Let's try to fix it:
    Code:
    sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    Add three lines:
    Code:
    blacklist rt2800usb
    blacklist rt2x00usb
    blacklist rt2x00lib
    Proofread carefully, save and close gedit.

    Reboot. Is your wireless working?

    Decided to use this thread since it seemed rather recent, I take it this just means I need the rt2870 driver?

    Correct. However, you do not need all the others. Please complete the fix outlined in post #4 above.

    Re: Help - WUSB600N and 9.10 32-bit

    I gave that a shot, and it still doesn't connect. I think the main solution, which I've looked into, would be to get the driver, but I haven't had any of the methods mentioned here or here work yet.
