Use Open Source? Then You're a Pirate!

I thought my nightmares and paranoia would never come true, but looks like I could be wrong.
All open source and free software could be declared illegal.

It turns out that the International Intellectual Property Alliance, an umbrella group for organisations including the MPAA and RIAA, has requested with the US Trade Representative to consider countries like Indonesia, Brazil and India for its "Special 301 watchlist" because they use open source software.

    Oh no, this is bad...

We make the software, we distribute the software for the good of Humanity...

DOES THIS MEAN NOBODY WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE SOFTWARE ANYMORE?

Gah, I hate the Suits sometimes. Their power goes to their head, and this crap happens.

What you are witnessing, my friends, is a check-mate. The end of innovation, the end of technology. We've reached our end, and can go no further.

EDIT: Wait, scratch that. I forgot that money ALWAYS wins over law, and most major companies use Open-Source. And those companies are willing to shell out hundreds of millions of dollars to protect what they use.

Dare I say it, we've got The Great Google on our side.

Oh, those silly people will stop at nothing…

Are they going to recommend that the UK and Russia also go on that list? And all the other countries whose governments are looking into changing to FOSS?

It's times like these that make me think that the world I see is influenced by my thoughts and actions. A few days ago, I thought about what I would do if Open Source Software became illegal.

And now look at what's happening.

The world is a strange place.

If open source is illegal, I'm not abandoning FOSS. Unfair laws MUST be challenged as said by someone on this forum.
