OK, so here is where I'm at.. I installed Lucid alpha on one of the house laptops and to say I was impressed is an understatement. So, the mini 9 booted alpha 2 in 13 seconds +/- and I got cocky and put it on my Vaio which did the same thing.. this tells me 2 things..

1. Lucids startup sequence is being tweaked wonderfully
2. I dont believe its making good use of actual SSD optimisations

I mean granted a mini 9 has a low end SSD drive but the laptop has a 5400 rpm drive and its doing about the same.. not a good increase considering hardware variations.

So, what I am wondering and feel free to chime in is.. is there actual hardware support for SSD going into the thing. Ive looked at Corsairs forums and they are talking about the obvious degrade in performance of SSD with extended use and TRIM support however the only thing they recommended linux wise is a boot CD of gparted and doing a secure erase which is completely useless when running a long term OS from the drive (as Lucid is going to be an LTS release).

Chime in here and help me with my misconceptions...
