    Question Pidgin file transfer?

I want to send a file to an AIM buddy over Pidgin, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. I read somewhere to rightclick on their name in the buddy list, choose "Send File", and send the file. According to my friend on the other side, (who isn't using Pidgin), the file transfer fails. Over in my chat window, Pidgin says that he cancelled the file transfer.
I've also heard something about Direct Connections...what is this, and where does it come into play???

I try something similar with a friend of mine, i had the same problem. In the best of the cases if you can send the file is very slow the connection. Try using another way to send the file.

    Re: Pidgin file transfer?

I could always email it, but just for a quick file send, I'd prefer Pidgin.
Any other suggestions? Like, any ports I need forwarded or something?

    I figured it out!
Ok, under "Accounts", "Manage Accounts", edit your AIM account.
Under the advance tab, choose the "Always use proxy server blah blah blah." option.
    Thanks for your response!

It looks like you're doing it for a Yahoo! account. I only know it works for an AIM account.
