Constructive suggestion (if possible) regarding old posts
I often see old posts that have sit dormant closed for "necromancing". Personally, I believe that by extending a forum search for people to look at old threads, you're essentially telling every memember of this board that's OK. I never agreed with closing a thread someone has a renewed interest in simply because its old. The thread will obviously contain history about the topic, and you're forcing them to start from scratch on the matter.
That being said, I think it would be very beneficial if the UBB software could somehow automatically close the thread after X amount of months of total inactivity, making it read only. I think you should also clearly state in the CoC or the Forum FAQ about necromancing old threads because there isn't a shred of information regarding the topic in either place.
Personally, I think in either case, its making more work for your staff and making the forums less flexible for its members, but at least this process would lighten your load up a bit and not waste a forum members time who has searched your site for their information, found it, only to have the door shut on them.
Cheers!
