    Smile Ecosia

This is something I found recently and I now proudly use Ecosia instead of Google. Take a look at it and post what you think about it.

It's a collaboration between Bing, Yahoo and WWF.
It reminded me off Bing right away.

I know it is, does that make it a good or a bad thing for you?

Depends. To me, it does not matter really. But if you dislike MS its a bad thing.
But i have an eye on it. Never heard of it before.

I do indeed dislike MS, but what makes me choose it over Google is that it is eco-friendly and that you can do your bit for the climate without having any disadvantages.

I wouldn't be caught dead with Bing. Considering I switched from SkyDrive to Ubuntu One, I won't go back.

Google all along. At least they open source their software. Microsoft does open source a very small portion of it (only Silverlight), but Google, if you look under letters A and C of the Projects directory, you'll find an entire browser - and 2 operating systems.

I turned it off when he said something about one search using the same power as powering a light for an hour.

There was some posts about this a while ago, turns out the power used for each search is insignificantly small.

    Re: Ecosia

lol they dog bing and yahoo in the beginning and then turn around say they're the main contributers to ecosia...
Now what would actually be productive would be to make those german style solar houses/warehouses that produce more energy than they use, and house the servers in it.

To be quite honest I don't really care whether they publish source code or not, I believe that the climate aspect has more priority than those narrow-minded issues. But that's my opinion, not trying to offend anybody.

Again, you're not saving any environment by not using Google.
