I plan to buy SSD drive for my desktop and intel's SSDSA2MH080G2C1 looks the most promising. If anyone has any experience with this specific or similar model (or with SSD in ubuntu in general) I'll appreciate your feedback.

I don't know if Linux has a TRIM implementation yet, but other than that it should be great. Intel 2nd gens rock.
There is at least some support for TRIM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRIM. How critical this may be if TRIM is not fully supported? I plan to use the SSD as a system drive (which means it will be formatted every 6 months) while all my large media files will be stored on a standard HDD.

It's slightly slower; considering the options, I don't think it's a deal-breaker. I would still use one.

Solid State, so there is no mechanical movement - no noise.is it true that SSD are noiseless?
