    intel SSD drive

    Hi,

I plan to buy SSD drive for my desktop and intel's SSDSA2MH080G2C1 looks the most promising. If anyone has any experience with this specific or similar model (or with SSD in ubuntu in general) I'll appreciate your feedback.

    TIA

I don't know if Linux has a TRIM implementation yet, but other than that it should be great. Intel 2nd gens rock.

There is at least some support for TRIM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRIM. How critical this may be if TRIM is not fully supported? I plan to use the SSD as a system drive (which means it will be formatted every 6 months) while all my large media files will be stored on a standard HDD.

    Thanks

    It's slightly slower; considering the options, I don't think it's a deal-breaker. I would still use one.

Well, it looks like TRIM is going to be supported Real Soon Now:

Solid State, so there is no mechanical movement - no noise.

Thank you for posting this! I don't suppose Lucid will incorporate this version of the kernel?
