I need help building a linux cluster

Right now I have a bunch of computers in my house that are doing nothing, but filling up space. They are all running ubuntu, and there is one that I use the most out of all of these computers, so I got to thinking...what if I could make it faster by linking all the other machines to it?

The problem is I've never thought about doing this before, and don't know the procedure to do this. How would one go about making a linux cluster, what are the best programs to do this, and what would be the advantages of doing this?

i too would like to know how to do this. as far as i'm aware, only linux and unix are capable of doing this but it would be pretty cool to do
