Well I'm using an old dell box as a remote torrent host on my home network. I was using 10/100 onboard nic for a while now and it was the slowest thing on my network so I put in a gigabit card to fix that. Now I'm not sure what the file transfer speed of an ide hdd is but it's gotta be faster and 4MB/s, no? 'Cause that's all i'm able to get out of it. Maybe this Dell is just a pos?

The switch is saying that it's connected at gig speeds, and all my win7 boxes can see it on the network. From a pair of my other desktops I can hit 60-70MB/s network transfer which is pretty much hdd speeds.

Can anyone point me in a direction where I can start to trouble shoot this. I'm a windows guy taking networking at school and decided to fire up a ubuntu box to play around with it. This is my only quirk with it.

I'm running karmic x86 if that makes a difference.
Thanks!
