Try Kompozer, it's a lot better than Frontpage. It's sort of similar to Dreamweaver if you've ever used that.

You might find that sites made with Frontpage don't work properly with other HTML editors. That's because Frontpage writes terrible HTML that doesn't comply with the web standards. To be honest, the best thing to do with a site made with Frontpage is to scrap the whole thing and start again using nice clean standards-compliant code. Frontpage code is almost impossible to maintain.

OpenOffice.org Writer save as html produces better standards-compliant html than Frontpage.

I have problems with Kompozer crashing all the time on Ubuntu so I use Composer (similar to Kompozer) which is part of SeaMonkey.

However if Kompozer works for you great.

Bluefish, Quanta. Both produce good markup, both have functionality to work with JavaScript, PHP. Bluefish can also produce some sample php or JavaSrcipt code, which can be used with few changes applied.

    I use this one:
    kompozer-0.7.10-i386.deb
    d972aaaabe58c23b79c921004e055a04 kompozer-0.7.10-i386.deb

it is very standard and works for debian and ubuntu: http://sourceforge.net/projects/komp...6.deb/download

    this one may not crash.
    dpkg -i kompozer-0.7.10-i386.deb
