First of all, dont know where to post this realy so i hope that a moderator can move it if its totaly wrong.


I was thinking to make a storage server that will be used for backups (pictures important documents and so on). It will also hold all my Videos that i stream to my 2 PCH's.

So this is my idea of hardware:

Motherboard: Asus M4A785D-M Pro
CPU: AMD Sempron 140 2,7Ghz, AM3
Memory: 2gb Corsair XMMS
PSU: Corsair CX 400w
Harddrives: 2x Western Digital WD15EARS 1.5tb 1x WD15EADS 1.5tb (they are both green power) + 1 boot drive
Case: Antec 300 (loves the cooling options)

Will this setup do? my idea was to make an Raid5 and perhapps add an additional drive later to the raid array (is this possible?)

i have been pooking around abit in Ubuntu before so im not totaly lost. was going to use the server version for this project.

How does the WD GP drives work in raid?
any thing that u guys would change or make diffrent?
