will ubuntu well support the 32nm mobile cpu i5?

something trouble me for a long time,
i have two laptops, one is acer 5520g(i bought it myself), one is t400(my company assigned to me).
i have them both installed ubuntu ,and so far so good.
as i have been learning more and more about ubuntu and taking part in the open source community(this a wonderful world ,with a lot of one-spirit(the spirit of ubuntu) people)

i plan to say goodbye to windows in my personal time.
the acer have a size 15.4, it takes 38% of the cpu when you did nothing in ubuntu 9.10,and you cannot smoothly play some h264 movies under ubuntu, and sometime the wireless card gets in trouble, also the battery can last less than 2 hours in ubuntu.also it is too heavy to put on your legs when you work on bed and too hot in the summer.

In the last few days,at cse, intel launched the 32nm cpu, i plan to buy a new laptop for ubuntu 10.04LST, i am very worried about
----------whether ubuntu10.04 will well support the new 32nm cpu ?(it has a GPU)
by the way ,in your opinion, which size you prefer (tell me your reason if you like)
    a. 15.4inch and up, b. 14 inch or so c .13.3 d. 12.1 and 11 inch or so e. less than 10
