Hi,
I'm currently running Ubuntu 6.06 on an old IBM Thinkpad T21. It is setup to act as a print server and Apt cacher.
I would like to save some power by running Ubuntu from a USB flash drive instead of the hard disk. The hard drive is configured to power down when not in use but for some reason the disk is accessed every few minutes for no apparent reason.
As the Thinkpad does not support booting from USB disk I need to boot from CDROM and then run Ubuntu from USB flash drive. Ideally I would like a boot menu to choose between booting ubuntu from usb pen drive or booting Clonezilla from CD.
Can someone point me in the right direction for instructions on how to create a boot CDROM which then loads the operating system from the USB flash drive. I have read some instructions on creating a boot CD but alot of them are out of date.
I'm assuming the USB flash drive just needs to have Ubuntu installed on it ie copy the file systems from the current hard disk.
Thanks
