iMac G5 bluetooth keyboard & Mouse

I've updated ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 and like 9.04 my bluetooth keyboard & mouse do not work. My mouse and keyboard are found but unable to connect.
In 9.04 I was able to edit /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf and got them working. This file is not apparent in 9.1.

I've tried downloading and burning to cd and performing a clean install but still no joy. Once again I've had to borrow a usb keyboard & mouse.
Please somebody must know of a fix for this.

    Thanks

Re: iMac G5 bluetooth keyboard & Mouse

Am I the only one with an iMac G5 that can't get an Apple wireless mouse and keyboard to work.
It seems the files I was able to edit in 9.04 have been omitted.
I've installed Blueman which finds them but fails to bond with them.
I've had to buy a wired mouse & keyboard but would prefer to get bluetooth up and running.

    Thanks

Thanks Linuxopjemac. Have just read from the link you sent and yes I have tried that exept I didn't take the batteries out for an hour, so in 55 minutes I'll try again!
Mind he is refering to a 2009 keyboard whereas mine is a circa 2004.
Will let you know if it works. I've also removed batteries from the mouse.

    Thanks

Re: iMac G5 bluetooth keyboard & Mouse

I got an intel mac (as opposed to a G5 but it shouldnt differ that much), but have a non working usb wireless keyboard in X (logitech dinovo), problems started with 9.10 and the development branch is also affected for me.

I can use the console just fine, and for me booting into the recovery kernel and then dropping to a networked root console to start gdm (or kdm) works fine, maybe test if that works for you if you havent already?

Thanks but I've found a way round this. I've installed Debian 5 and everything just worked. No setting up, no tweeking, no extra downloads.
Why can't Ubuntu be like this.

Ubuntu is not officially supported on POWER. Better go with Debian or Yellow Dog.
