    Re: 9.10 can't connect to windows 7 share

    I found the following thread and I was able to resolve my problem. I had to uninstall the Windows Live ID sign-in assistant from the Windows 7 PC. I guess that I had never installed this prior in reinstalling Windows. I hope this helps anyone else with the same problem...

    Windows Live ID sign-in assistant installs under Windows 7 as part of a Windows update I believe. To remove it, go to the Control Panel, where there should be some icon to click for uninstalling programs (on my computer this icon is labelled "Uninstall a program" or "Programs and features," depending on the view. Find the program and then click uninstall. To prevent this update from showing up again, go back to the Control Panel, and find the Windows Update settings. Right-clicking the Live ID sign-in update and then select "hide," to prevent the update from showing again as an option.

    i just did the same thing.

    what you need to do is go to synaptic package manager.
    install smbnfs and samba
    then go into terminal:
    mkdir /media/"yoursharename"
    then type gedit /etc/fstab
    in your fstab folder you should make a new line
    #NAME OF DRIVE/SHARE
    //"ip address/share" /media/directory you made" iocharset=uft8,_netfs,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777

    shutdown -r now

    once reboot it should show up on your desktop.

    if not the you have to edit crontab by typing in root

    gedit /etc/crontab

    and add this line to the end

    @reboot sleep 10;mount -a

    hope this works
