What kind of ubuntu installation is it...is it a Wubi install?
(That is, did you choose the 'install within windows' option).
Also, what windows app did you install?
It must be extremely intrusive to have meddled with your ubuntu installation.
When you installed the windows app perhaps you installed into onto the partition running ubuntu? Its possible that may have caused a problem, im not sure if windows will mount your ubuntu partition / drive at all?
Had he same problem two days ago without installing anything. This is a wubi install.(vista is set to default,as if it were to come out of the factory)But having backed up everything I simply did a reinstall. But I'm curious how to solve it of course.
