Completation with vim in the CLI: not working

Hi there.
Whenever I want to edit a file, I lauch the CLI, type vim and the first letters of the file I want to edit, then hit tab and the shell autocompletes the file name.
I did a 9.10 fresh install the other day and what I described is not working anymore. Used to work out of the box in all the ubuntu versions I installed. So I have to type vim and the complete name of the file to edit it: clearly not good.
Anyone knows why this is happening and how can I fix it?
