    Gnome vs KDE

IS there a thread talking about this subject of Gnome vs KDE? I only thought about it much at all when I downloaded about 4 KDE updates and one was quite long. It was at that time I began asking, what is KDE that I've seen mentioned so often, and what is the relationship to Gnome? I am only coming to the light in other words, I just found out what they are...and now I want to know if there is an ongoing discussion as one website has said. I read that article by Linus about Gnome and found the whole thing very interesting. [If you want I can go and find for you what I read].

Reading about Gnome clarified a lot of question I'd had and didn't even know how to ask.

Try looking in recurring discussions (where this thread will likely be moved soon). The debate has been rehashed a number of times.

I've heard about the KDE vs GNOME flame war too and there are still debates going on about it. If you ask me, there is no better choice. Everyone has their own opinion.

What are you talking about? Slackware has a much better interface than Arch!

I didn't know it was a flame war. I thought there could be lots of airing of pros and cons not just flame...oh, the talkback column I read mentioned slackware. NoaHall, I see that you have Jaunty (so do I) I must assume you have Slackware as desktop. Is it hard to just try (although I'm such a nooby, I should probably leave well enough alone)
Does it take much more harddrive space than Gnome...(or aren't I even asking the right questions?
