This is fantastic stuff - many many thanks! I was utterly baffled as to why I could find the partimage *docs* but not any binary... Know I know!

I left partimage for fsarchver when I switched to ext4. Has partimage added capability to backup ext4 yet? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks a lot man!

I am using it to backup the Lenovo hidden partition, since I am planning to completely wipe out the Window$ software.

Re: partimage not in 64bit repos

I'm kinda curious about the original question, why in the 32 and not the 64 repositories? Maybe the 64 is buggier? Maybe somebody decided that FSArchiver was just so much better, that between that, the KDE PM, and DD there just isn't that much reason to go to the work of getting it debugged enough to be confident in it? That would seem reasonable. Experimenting with these and settling on a convenient procedure for backing up my unmounted bootable partitions while I'm running from another, which in turn gets backed up from some other when it isn't mounted is my main current system tinkering project. FSArchiver seems really good and should be easy to use in a script. The KDE PM has a nice gui but as far as I can tell doesn't have adjustable compression, maybe no compression at all. I aborted it when I realized the archive was going to be outrageously humongous. Guess I'll give up on partimage at least for the moment. Must be some good reason it's not in the repository. Now I'll check out DD. This approach beats the hell out running an imager from a CD or giving Clonezilla its own boot partition.
Please don't remove the forum archives!

This works (install libssl0.9.8 with apt first) as-is on Natty: http://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/partimage/download

Just in case, I also have it mirrored here: http://n8.thruhere.net/export/free/d...1+b1_amd64.deb
