Mupen64Plus 1.99 is here, need help with install

Well the new version of mupen64plus is here...and i was hoping it'd play nicer with my graphics card (Wasn't really working out...)

the only problem is, it's not in the ubuntu software center (1.5 is, 1.99 isn't). I manually downloaded the package, but I'm not sure how to install it.

    Can anyone help?

As far as I know, they don't package it as a deb you install, but as a binary. I'm sure they have instructions inside on how to install it to your system, but I typically just run the program straight from the folder due to laziness.

To be honest, it's almost easier to compile from source than to install to your local directories for me. Anyway, I'm fairly certain there's an install script/instructions in the main folder of the package.

if you got the binary package, there's an installation script included. just run
    Code:
     sudo ./install.sh

I'm a complete linux newbie so this may sound stupid, but how do I actually run Mupen64Plus once it's installed?

    Open a terminal and type
    Code:
    mupen64plus
. You can also create launcher for the program in your menu in Gnome or KDE.

Re: Mupen64Plus 1.99 is here, need help with install

Apprently I found out why it wasn't working. For some reason it does not install the files in the necessary folders (usr/local/bin Also I do not have a bin folder). Maybe because 10.10 has just been released and it is having compatibility problems.

Anybody know how to fix this?

I tried to use the latest one from their website... but it doesn't start up or anything for me.. no clue why

so instead I'm using the 1.5v from the USC and its working fine over here on my 10.10 x64 - at least for the games I've tested
    Desktop Build mobo: MSI 790FX-GD70 | cpu: Phenom ii x4 965BE C3 @ 4.02Ghz | gfx: Sapphire + XFX 5770 CrossfireX + EVGA 9800GTX+
    ram: 8gb DDR3-1333Mhz | hd: 1TB (Windows 7 Ultimate x64) + 500gb (Snow Leopard 10.6.7) + 400gb (Kubuntu 11.04 x64)
