Cool Mouse cursor is visually frozen, but functional

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, and I've been running Ubuntu for the last year or so. The touchpad and mouse both experience the same problem:

-The cursor (arrow) will not move. It is currently about 4" to the right, 2" below the center of the screen.
-The clicking still works, in that when I move the mouse around and click, the cursor still pushes buttons and drags/drops. I can locate the active point by using that "hit CTRL to locate cursor" mouse setting.
-When I hover over a text field, hyperlink, et cetera, the cursor image changes accordingly.

At first it was fun, sort of like playing battleship. Now I have a huge Abaqus CAE project and it would be nice to have full functionality restored.

Problem fixed itself after sixth restart.
