    Really long boot

    I have a Dell latitude 2500 w 384 megs of ram, and 900mhz processor.
It takes (no joke, I timed it) 8 hours for it to boot, most of which is just a black screen, acting idle. I installed ubuntu on another system, them moved the hard drive (because the disk wouldn't run on it.) Could I fix it or do I have to reinstall? And if so, can I use jumpstart? And where can I find Jumpstart?

A Tommy Cooper card trick comes to mind.

If that fails; what is sauce for the goose ....
