9.10 HP dv3 laptop: today's update killed wireless

Today's Karmic update killed the wireless on my HP dv3 laptop--wicd just says "no wireless network detected." Have never had wireless issues before. Can anyone tell me how to begin troubleshooting this problem?

    Hi.

Can you post the results of the commands in my post #33 here into a terminal window?:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...9&postcount=33

You can click the "#" to get the CODE tags or "<>" for HTML tags in the post window to set apart the terminal results. You should be able to just cut/paste the results so that we can see what kind of hardware you are running.

There is a good chance that your HP uses something very similar to what my HP DV98xx wireless uses (and I've run many different Linuces on that for over a year now).

Will do! Back in a few minutes with that. I'm surprised to find that ethernet is also dead. Both my windows computers are connecting fine.

Here you go. Even I can tell that iwconfig is not right.

    Code:

BTW, under hardware drivers, it says that the Broadcom STA wireless driver is activated and in use.

You know what...this is very embarrassing, but I think what happened is, when I picked up my laptop to move it earlier, my thumb inadvertently hit the network on/off hardware "button". I now have my wireless back.

    Thanks, all.
