how do I change my usplash screen back after installing kubuntu-desktop

I installed kubuntu-desktop instead of simply kde for what reason I don't know I realized my mistake later, I would like to keep my kdm (terribly dissapointed with the fact GDM is no longer customizable) but I much preferred that glowing white ubuntu logo to the cartoonish old school kde load bar on boot up, I used to know how to do this but it's been over a year can someone point me in the right direction on how to change it back? I should have the old file still on my computer somewhere, just don't know where or what file to alter the path in. . .
